Matt Grisko,Environmental Philosophy major, sits in a classroom in South Kedzie Hall. Grisko is a TA for Philisophy 130, a logic and reasoning class. "Logic is both easy to do and easy to get, which is why I decided to help teach it." Grisko was recruited by the Environmental Science and Policy Program and was offered a 2-year graduate recruiting fellowship in 2007, which he took.
Grisko demonstrates what a typical logic question for his students looks like."For reasons I'm not entirely clear on, most philosophy grad students are scared of logic. Which worries me slightly, but also lets me get away with not having to grade terrible papers. Suckers!"

Michelle Bonilla, 38, cuts the hair of one of her customers at Bonilla Salon and Spa, 635 S. Waverly Rd. on Thursday morning. Bonilla opened her business two years ago after living in Lansing her entire life. The salon offers different hair, nail and skin services including pedicures and facials.

Justine Dailey, co-owner of Tuesday Books loves to read. "This is my candy shop," said Dailey, "I would buy everything if I could." Dailey has co-owned Tuesday books for seven years with her friends Beth Phelps and Theresa Grossman. Although they have struggled through the economic harship, they still are open are excited for readers.
Justine Dailey reads on her breaks. She doesn't have a lot of time for reading because she is going back to school. "I'm going back to school to be a teacher but I love having a business open for all the children," said Dailey.
During Tuesday Book's story time, Justine Dailey jokes with the children.

Taste of Thai manager Nogyao Phangyotha and head cook Arturo Vaegas sit down at one of their tables with a full Thai meal. Vaegas has worked at Taste of Thai for eleven years now, and has no plans of leaving anytime soon.
Waitress Aumk Hanom takes patrons' orders Tuesday afternoon at Taste of Thai. The restaurant has plans to expand in the future and has chosen Hannah Plaza as the location for their next branch.

Pat Gerharz, founder and owner of PMG Custom Automotive, stands in his office at 1305 Cedar Street in Lansing. Gerharz says he, "takes pride in his shop for being the capital city's premier body shop". His shop is known for its high quality service, affordable price and fast turn around time. He spends most of his time painting cars, but also paints trucks, motorcycles, bikes, scooters, boats, guitars, helmets, and everything in between. Most of his jobs include collision and vehicle repair but from time to time he gets appointments for window tinting and custom painting and graphics which is what he truly enjoys.
Pat touches up the paint job on a 2007 Mercedes by hand before he brings it in his paint room to spray. His initials graffitied on the wall behind him are only one of the things that makes his shop so unique. "I started working on cars when I was in high school and crashed into this old lady who looked like she wanted to kill me," Gerharz said. "I had no idea what I was doing but I told her don't worry, I'd fix it. And I did. It was pretty easy actually, and I've been doing it ever since."

Hayes preforms standing Krounchasana (Heron Pose) in the front room of Yoga State of Mind, Body and Soul, 515 E Grand River Ave in East Lansing. While in the pose she said, "I could stand in this position for hours, as long as I breathe." She was teaching Vinyasa Yoga for many years before she decided to open up her own studio on the main strip of Grand River Ave. The studio sells mats, yogitoes and other accessories to the many students and residents that practice there.
Jen Hayes, founder and owner of Yoga State of Mind, Body and Soul, 515 E Grand River Ave in East Lansing stands at the front entrance to the yoga studio. Antique lamps line the ceilings and a slate floor with embedded stone flows through the outside of the studio. She takes pride in the decor throughout the studio. "We found the door at a antique sale and all of the lamps are from the 60's. We were fortunate to get a good price on the lamps. We love Ebay," said Hayes.
Jen Hayes, owner and teacher at Yoga State stands at the front desk outside of her studio. "I'm trying to bring in younger teachers and their fun personalities," says Hayes. While she only teaches one to two classes a day she also participates in most of the other classes held throughout the day.
Owner of Yoga State of Mind, Body and Soul, Jen Hayes records the number of "yogi's" that practiced throughout the day. Hayes spends most of her time teaching and practicing at the studio but also finds time to do "the hard work" at the end of the night.

Freshman Brian Fritz is a disc jockey at Impact radio. Impact radio is a student radio station located on Michigan State University's campus. The station offers opportunity and experience in different areas of radio and video broadcasting. Fritz says, "I got involved with Sit or Spin (an Impact radio show) over the summer. Everything went from there. I applied and decided I wanted to be a DJ."

Freshman Brian Fritz rocks out on the "air guitar" before returning to his DJ duties at Impact radio. Fritz enjoys working at Michigan State University's only student radio station. "I get to spin really obscure tracks without sounding like a 'hipster' and find really good music too," says Fritz.
